Hannover Regional Court dismisses lawsuit over “Reformation Window”

The complaint in the legal dispute over the “Reformation Window” in the Marktkirche Hannover, based on a design by Prof. Markus Lüpertz, was dismissed by the Regional Court of Hannover. The stained glass window will be donated by former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder and has been the subject of dispute since 2018.

The court dismissed the complaint because the religious freedom and the right of self-determination of the Marktkirche outweighed the copyright interests. Moreover, it was only a comparatively minor infringement of copyright.
